I was first exposed to actual glass making when i was 19. I was spending time in Herat, Afghanistan, and I would often find myself sitting for hours in Sultan Hamidy’s Glass Factory watching the glass makers fashioning goblets and beads of exquisite lapis colored glass.
Time passed. Career. Marriage. House. Kids.
Finally, time to explore
I started by learning how to make stained glass, but found the exacting nature of it to be too tedious and rigid for my impatient mind.
Next, I explored glass blowing, studying with Suzanne Charbonnet at Urban Glass. Challenging and rewarding as it was, it also required a trip to Brooklyn each time I wanted to work, and a time commitment I didn’t have.
Then, I spent an incredible weekend at Snow Farm in Williamsburg, MA, where I discovered “warm glass,” under the tutelage of Lisa Richardson-Bach. That did it.
Fusing. Slumping. Experimentation.
Back to Urban Glass to study more techniques with incredible artists ....
Virginia Griswold, Anna Butler, and an amazing Master Class with Dan Clayman.
And most recently, a workshop at Bullseye Glass in the San Francisco Bay area with Catharine Newell
I’ve exhibited in Juried Shows throughout the country and have received a few awards along the way.
